the Pickering Lost Boys are Missing in Canada (last seen March 17, 1995 in Pickering, ON)

This story takes us to Pickering, Ontario

During the early morning hours of March 17th, 1995 a group of six teenagers leave a house party in the area with plans to "goof around" at a nearby marina.

Security cameras at the Marina show three of the boys enter the area just prior to 2am. They, nor the other three boys they left the party with, have ever been seen again.

The only evidence suggesting their possible whereabouts was two reports of stolen watercraft.

In this episode of Nighttime, I've invited Canadian crime content creator Madelayne Klein to help me try and understand what may have happened to the Pickering Lost boys.

This episode takes us to Prince George, British Columbia.

On the evening of August 1, 1989 Ronnie and Doreen Jack went to their neighbourhood pub looking for a bite to eat and a few drinks. Instead, they found a mystery man with an enticing job offer that would forever change their lives and the lives of everyone who loved them.

Ronnie would do logging, Doreen could help in the kitchen, and their two kids would be taken care of at the remote camps daycare facility. Transportation wouldn't be a problem either, the mystery man could drive them to the camp that night.

The last time any member of the Jack family was seen was only a few short hours later… packing some of their belongings in a truck.

In this episode of Nighttime, I've invited Canadian crime content creator Madelayne Klein to help me try and understand what may have happened to the Jack Family.

Mekayla Bali is Still Missing in Canada (last seen April 12, 2016 in Yorkton, Sask)

On April 12th, 2016 something was happening in 16 year old Mekayla Bali's life, but that's about all we know for sure.

She did get dropped off at school, but she didn't attend classes. Instead she walked a twisted route around town, making a series of puzzling stops along the way, each one piling mystery upon mystery until mid afternoon when her trail simply ends.

Now, six years later her loved ones are still attempting to follow the clues left behind in hopes they lead to Mekayla.

Long time listeners of Nighttime will remember Mekayla's story as her mother Paula joined us shortly after the first anniversary of her disappearance but since then there have been considerable updates, developments, and listener requests for a follow up.

In this episode of Nighttime, I'll be joined by Canadian Crime video creator Madalayne Klein to revisit and provide updated details on disappearance of Mekayla Bali.

Tamra Keepness is Missing in Canada (last seen July 5, 2004 in Regina, Sask)

At some point during the early morning of July 5, 2004, 5 year old Tamra Keepness seems to have simply vanished from her home.

The facts of that evening, as well as the behaviours of the adults responsible for Tamra's care, are more than a bit hazy. Alcoholism, drug abuse, sex work, and domestic violence all find their way into Tamra's last known night and all obscure the trail she left behind.

But if one thing is for certain, it's that Tamra’s family has far from given up on her.

In this episode of Nighttime, I'll be joined by Canadian crime video creator Madelayne Klein to discuss the disappearance of Tamra Keepness.

What Happened to Dylan Ehler?

On May 6, 2020, three year old Dylan Ehler was visiting his grandmother’s home in Truro, NS. While playing in the back yard his grandmother turned her back to Dylan briefly to leash a dog. At some point during that moment of inattention, Dylan vanished.

Despite nearly a year of searching the only evidence located was Dylan’s two rubber boots, both found caught amongst debris in shallow brook that flows a short distance from his grandmothers home.

Despite very little activity in terms of locating Dylan, the case has been very active for all the wrong reasons. The only significant updates involve rumors, suspicions, frenzied online citizen detectives, ransom demands, and a cyberbullying case presently before the courts.

In this series we get into all of it.

In part one we are joined by Dylan's father Jason Ehler to discuss his missing son Dylan Ehler.

In Part two our guest is the last person to see Dylan prior to his disappearance, his grandmother Dorothy Parsons who shares her memories of Dylan’s last known day.

Update Episode

In late November, a local bank reported that fraudulent activity had occurred on the account of a deceased customer. Jason Ehler was arrested Jan 11, 2022 and charged with 11 counts of fraud, 11 counts of forgery, and 11 counts of false pretenses.

Update Episode

In this episode I provide details of Jason Ehler’s recent court appearance related to an application for a peace bond requested by Dylan’s grandmother Dorothy.

Update Episode

I provide detail and background on the trial related to the peace bond Dylan Ehler's grandmother Dorothy requested against Dylan's father Jason Ehler.

the case, heard via teleconference on April 5, 2022, saw Dorothy present evidence of detailed and explicit death threats made against her and her dog by Jason Ehler. Much like the threats themselves the trial was disorganized, angry, disturbing, and ultimately another dark chapter in the case of missing child Dylan Ehler.

A Collection of Stories from Haunted Canada

In my opinion, this the most wonderful time of the year... Halloween.

For a few weeks in October, even your grandmothers favorite drug store is selling Skull shaped coffee mugs and blood splattered napkins. What's not to love about that?

With the world temporarily embracing horror and darkness I decided to do the same here at Nighttime and fortunately, there are many spooky listeners of this show. It's to them I turn to tonight.

So pour a drink, dim the lights, and get cozy.

Tonight, in this Nighttime Halloween special, we are going to hear from a collection of Nighttime listeners who will share their encounters with THE BEYOND.

Stories

  • James’ encounter with a spirit at the Margaree River

  • Kristin’s visit from a deceased innkeeper in Ontario

24 year old Cortney Lake was last seen the evening of June 7, 2017 in the area of her Mount Pearl, NL home. At the time of her disappearance, Cortney’s life was in a state somewhere between transition and turmoil. An ex boyfriend had just been released from prison for a series of crimes against her, whereas another ex, the father of her young son, was pressuring her to rekindle the romantic relationship the pair ended years prior.

When her whereabouts were unaccounted for, suspicions were directed towards both of these me as well as her current boyfriend.

The story that will unfold will be remembered as one of Newfoundland’s darkest crimes.

In this episode of Nighttime, I will be using excerpts from a long form interview with Cortney’s mom Lisa Lake. Our topic is the disappearance and murder of Cortney Lake

the Murder of Amber Tuccaro

20 year old Amber Tuccaro, was last seen alive on August 18,2010. She had left her infant son in the care of her friend and planned to hitchhike into the nearby city of Edmonton for the night.

The only clue in Amber’s disappearance is the recording of a telephone call she received while riding in a vehicle with an unknown male just moments after she was last seen. In the chilling recording, Amber seems to slowly realize the man is not taking her towards Edmonton but instead onto a series dirt roads… just like the ones her remains would be found on two years later.

Jerome, the Mystery Man of Sandy Cove

Sandy Cove, Nova Scotia, 1863

As far back as recorded history can take us, we see the inhabitants of the land presently called Nova Scotia maintaining a strong connection to the waters that surround them.

Forestry, Fishing, Tourism, and recreation. The Atlantic’s waves crash against all aspects of our lives.

it’s not a surprise that the Atlantic Ocean also plays a role in many of Nova Scotia's most enduring mysteries.

In this this episode, our story involves mysterious strangers arriving to Nova Scotia’s shores by way of the Atlantic Ocean, but in this case they didn't crash land in a UFO, and they seem to bury any treasure.

All they did was desert a speechless, legless man on a beach in the Digby area of Nova Scotia.

Who he was, why his legs were cut off, and how exactly he came to arrive on the beach... are all questions that have gone unanswered in the 150+ years since his sudden arrival.

Tonight, in this episode of Nighttime, we will be joined by author Fraser Mooney Jr.

Our topic is Jerome, the mystery man of Sandy Cove.

UFOs Above Canada - 5 - the Canadian Government and UFOs (with Matthew Hayes)

After releasing the prior episodes in this series, outlining my son's ufo event and the MUFON organization, I've heard from listeners curious if (and to what extent) the Canadian government is involved in the reporting and investigation of UFO events.

In this episode of Nighttime I'll speak to someone well positioned to tell us all about our governement's surprising history with the UFO phenomena.

When Trent University PHD Candidate Matthew Hayes was considering a topic for his doctoral dissertation, he found inspiration late at night while exploring one of the many rabbit holes a google search for "UFOs" found him in.

When Mattew happened upon an archive of Canadian Government documents related to UFO reports, he found his field.

Matthew Hayes' has spent years collecting, analyzing, and trying to understand the history of the Canadian Government's relationship with the UFO mystery.

Three Chilling Tales from Haunted Nova Scotia (with Steve Vernon)

Some of my earliest scares occurred late at night, in the days leading up to Halloween, with a flashlight and a book of spooky stories.

Individually the stories may span just a few pages, but with each one the authors managed to drag young minds along to places more horrifying than they could have ever imagined.

In this Halloween special, Nighttime will again take inspiration from these books and dress itself up as a collection of scary stories.

Tonight you will hear three chilling stories from haunted Nova Scotia... written and read by my favorite Horror Author, Steve Vernon.

Bernie Langille - 2 - Larry's Folder

Bernie Cover 2.jpg

In 2017 we were joined by Bernie Langille Jr. who had been investigating the bizarre circumstances that surround the death of the man he was named after, his grandfather Bernie Langille.

When we last met, Bernie had not only been searching for more information on his grandfather's death, but also looking to simply confirm that the unbelievable story being passed down through his family was true.

Thanks to a head scratching coincidence, the work we did in part one provided Bernie with everything he was looking for.

In this follow up episode, Bernie will return to discuss what he learned about his grandfather's death thanks to Larry's folder.

Bernie Langille - 1 - Who (or What) Killed Bernie Langille?

This episode was originally broadcast 2017/01

In February of 1968, Cpl. Bernard Langille's young life comes to an end after a bizarre series of events that start at the Gagetown Military Base in New Brunswick, and end with his mysterious death in the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax.

In this episode, I am joined by Cpl. Langille's grandson, and namesake, Bernie Langille who has taken the lead in his family's fifty year pursuit for both justice and the facts related to this strange story.

The Search for Ryan Shtuka

coverart.jpg

When 20 year old Ryan Shtuka stepped out of his comfort zone and embarked on an adventure with a close friend their plan wasn't anything risky or dangerous.. it was quite simple. They'd spend the winter in the mountains of British Columbia working at one of Canada's most beautiful ski resorts.

But as it turned out, something went wrong; no one knows what exactly. What we do know is that his family, his friends, and an army of volunteers have been searching tirelessly hoping to find him, or any trail he may have left after leaving a houseparty during the early morning hours of Feb 17th.

In this episode we hear the story of the life, the disappearance, and the search for Ryan Shtuka. Told by one of the people leading the search for him: his mother Heather Shtuka.

Where is Joanne Pedersen?

February 19, 1983, Chilliwack, BC

After ending up on the receiving end of her older sister and babysitter's childhood prank, 10 year old Joanne Pedersen found herself locked out of her house on a cold and rainy night. To request help, the soaking wet and sobbing child entered a pay-phone booth outside of a nearby convenience store and phoned her parents to request help.

By the time they arrived at the store to pick her up Joanne was gone. Now, 35 years since she was last seen, investigators have been unable to locate neither Joanne or the irritated man who was heard in the phone booth with her during her call for help.

Where is Troy Cook?

cover color.jpg

Truro, NS - June 11, 1998

As Tom Cook dropped his 19 year old son Troy off at his apartment, they agreed to meet for supper at a favorite restaurant later that week.

When Troy didn't show up for the meal, Tom attempted to locate his son only to learn that no one has seen him in days.

In this episode, we are joined by the last person to see Troy Cook... his father Tom.
